Ability to have folders which their clients/customers can access, clearly marked as being shared folders. The folders with client access will have a unique icon or text in a different color and will be a folder level setting.
A big Thank you to all of our customers who voted here.
You should now see the new folders icons in both the SmartVault portal and the Connected Desktop.
You may have to clear your browser cache in the portal and make sure you have the latest SmartVault update installed on the desktop.
We hope you really enjoy this new feature!
Identifiying shared folders is great! However, with light blue folders , it's very hard to tell difference between shared and non-shared. Give us the option for color of folders, i.e. yellow folders and shared folders are yellow with 2 black heads.
So if the client access is not activated then the "two heads icon" will not appear on any folders? Or maybe it is easier to just explain in what situations the "two heads icon" does not appears on any folders (even those set up to have client access).
Hi Tess,
Active Portal in your terms means that you have invited a guest to your account and they have activated their user login. And therefore, they've been added to the appropriate group in your account so they can see the folders that are shared with them. If they haven't been invited to your account, then their client folders are not shared with them yet.
It appears that the client access indicators are only reflected for clients who have an active portal and therefore this would also allow us to determine whether the client has an active portal by looking at a folder that would have client access (i.e. if it does not reflec client access then they do not have an active portal). Is this a correct assessment?
Please excuse me, if I this has already been suggested. I can't tell from this string, if this was already answered - but can you make the blue folder a bit more brighter or darker to stand out a bit more. I like the idea of a different color (possibly the yellow) for a client access folder - that will make it clear that is a client access folder.
Yes. that is correct. Read access to a folder means they can see the leaf objects (files) at the root of that folder. It is always best practice to share a folder below to ensure that documents intended to be shared with a client are in that subfolder, rather than a root folder which holds subfolders. Kind of like If I give you the key to my house but not to all the other rooms in the house, you can see the furniture that is in the living room, but not basement.
If a main folder such as "TY 2019" reflects the ability of clients to view and there are sub folders under "TY 2019" that do not reflect that ability am I correct in that the clients do not have access to those sub folders but if a documents was saved directly under the "TY 2019" folder that would be visible to them? See attached - pdf named SUPPORT 12.31.19.

Definitely for us older generation with failing eyes.
This is great! Option B is a little clearer, maybe even make the shared folder a little darker.

Since A is smaller it is hard to tell, but they look the same, so I would say B since it is easier to see.
Hi SmartVault Customers,
We're currently working on this idea you voted on and would like to get your feedback on some screenshots of our new Shared Folder Indicator feature. This is how the folders will look in both the SmartVault Connected Desktop as well as in the portal.
Pick the screen you like best, just respond with A or B and additional comments you may have to offer.
Thank you,
The SmartVault Team

This enhancement would be instrumental in our firm committing to this package
DIFFERENT COLOUR AND ADMIN PASSWORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO GRANT ACCESS TO CLIENT TO PREVENT RISK OF UNWANTED GRANT OF ACCESS. I ALSO AGREE WITH EARLIER COMMENT "Additional feature that would be great. It would be nice to be able to know which clients have an active portal account by looking at their drawer in connected desktop rather than having to go the portal to check. i.e. An icon next to their name or something along those lines."
